FFA winners announced, two teams qualify for state

Two horticulture teams at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center (CTC) qualified for State FFA competition recently during the District Career Development Event. The Floriculture team, in the top photo, placed First, with Justin Kisner, kneeling, earning the highest individual score. Standing are Jaymz Smith, John Winters and Justin Church. The Forestry team, in the bottom photo, took Second Place, with Logan Kiehne, standing at left, having the second-highest individual score. Standing, left to right are Kiehne, Shay Loughary and Amy Miller. Kneeling is Leslie Mayfield. Harry F Bertrand Jr is the FAA advisor at the CTC.
The National FFA Organization operates under a Federal Charter granted by the 81st Congress of the United States, and is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture. The U.S. Department of Education provides leadership and helps set direction for the FFA as a service to state and local agricultural education programs.
