Thirteen technology students take top honors at state competition
Seven students from the Cape Career and Technology Center (CTC) recently won first-place medals at the Missouri Skills USA Leadership and Skills Conference at Linn State Technical College. They will compete at the national level at Kansas City in June.
In addition, six students from the CTC won second or third-place medals. A total of 37 students from the CTC competed.
First place winners and their categories were Joe Broach and Travis Pinkerton, Industrial Motor Control Technical Information; Blake Amick, Ben Essner, Josh McWilson and Lance McWilson, Video Product Development; and Derrick Hengst,Sheet Metal.
Other students winning second or third-place awards were Joe Broach and Devan James, Industrial Motor Control; Stephanie Bird and Niki Cofield,Video Product Development;Trent Vandeven and Jacob Green, Television Production.
Missouri SkillsUSA consists of nine districts with over 85 local chapters, resulting in a membership of nearly ten thousand. The program develops skills and builds self-confidence as students work in their schools and communities.
