“Can-struction” Day teaches lessons in charity and math at Franklin Elementary

When Franklin Elementary third and fourth grade teachers challenged students to bring in canned food for an educational and charity project, they were overwhelmed with the response. Students rounded up cans of food which were donated to the FISH Pantry just before the Christmas vacation, but not until they had experimented with various ways to construct geometric and architectural shapes. The “can-struction” project gathered more than 200 canned vegetables, meats and fruits for the local food bank.
