Cape Girardeau Public School District Holds Forum on New Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
Cape Girardeau Public Schools will hold a public forum to unveil a revised Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) at 6:00 p.m., Monday, October 11, at the Central Middle School Cafeteria located at the corner of Thilenius and Caruthers. The District has been working on the revised plan for nearly a year. The last plan was adopted in 2005 and updated in 2007. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education provides five major goals that must be included in the CSIP. The district develops objectives, strategies and action steps to address each goal. All patrons of the district are invited to attend.
“Over a year ago, the district recognized the need to revise our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Missouri School Boards Association was contacted for assistance and they have provided guidance throughout the process. The goal is to develop a plan that can guide our school district for the next five years as the district continues to improve Cape Public Schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jim Welker.
“The mission of the Cape Girardeau Public School District, in collaboration with students, parents, and the community, is to develop productive citizens of strong character with the skills and attitudes to compete in a changing, global society,” the superintendent added. He said that long range strategic planning is vitally important to any good organization, and schools are no exception.
