Cape Public Schools seek nominations for new brochure

Faces of Success, a new brochure produced by the Cape Girardeau Public School District, will honor some of its most successful former students.

“This brochure will recognize our outstanding former pupils who have made noteworthy achievements in their field of endeavor,” said Dr. Jim Welker, Superintendent.  “Faces of Success will give us an opportunity to pay tribute to former students of Cape Public Schools who distinguished themselves.”  Dr. Welker visualizes updating the brochure annually.  He said that the brochure will be distributed throughout the school system and community in cooperation with the Cape Area Chamber of Commerce, and will be provided to realtors and civic organizations.

A steering committee consisting of six community members and six district members developed criteria for inclusion in the brochure.  This committee is currently seeking nominations from the public.  Committee members will verify nominee information and rate nominees in a blind ranking system.   Nominees may be living or deceased.

The call for nominations requires applications to be submitted by July 31, 2009.  Nominating forms are available at the district’s Central Administration Office at 301 N. Clark, or can be downloaded by clicking here.

Community members of the steering committee include the following: Tracey Glenn, Adam Kidd, Thomas M. Meyer, Frank Nickell, Brenda Newbern, and Kathy Swan.  School district members include: Willetta Brookins, Mark Cook, Rhonda Dunham, Carla Fee, Terry Kitchen and Steve Robertson.
