Educators of the Year recognized

Crystal Cerny, Mark Cook and Tracy Haggerty were recognized as 2010 Educators of the Year by the Cape Area Chamber of Commerce at a banquet on May 4.  Pictured above, left to right, are Dr. Mike Cowan, Principal at Cape Central High School; Crystal Cerny; Mark Cook; Tracy Haggerty; Roy Merideth, Principal at Cape Central Junior High School; and Dr. Jim Welker, Superintendent of Schools.   Cerny, a Communication Arts/English teacher at Cape Central High School for the past seven years, began her teaching career in 1985.  Cook, the principal of Jefferson Elementary School for the past twelve years, has been in the education profession for thirty years.  He began his career in 1980 as a sixth-grade teacher at Franklin Elementary.  Haggerty has been teaching since 2000 and currently teaches Special Education at Cape Central Junior High.
