Cape Central High Special Education Teacher and Instructional Technology Specialist Whitney Choate has been named the Midwest Education Technology Community (METC) Outstanding Young Educator.  The award is presented to an educator who demonstrates vision, innovation, action and transformation using technology to improve teaching and learning. Mrs. Choate has been teaching at Cape Girardeau Public Schools for five years, but is currently in her ninth year as an educator.

My favorite and most impactful tech-related project was working with my Career Readiness class last spring and having them create their own student-led business. The Tiger 3D Print Shop was created from by my students who created, designed, and produced 3D printed objects. They also learned about marketing, promotions, and other facets of running a business. I loved this project because it was real-world application while teaching many soft skills necessary to be successful in the workforce,” said Choate.

Mrs. Choate will be honored at the METC Conference in Saint Charles in February.
