Important CGPS Update - School is closed on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The side roads are still too icy and dangerous for the buses. Thursday will be a traditional snow day for students and staff. Even though our school district remains closed on Thursday, we want to take a moment to say thank you to our maintenance team. They have been working hard in the cold to clear the snow from our school sidewalks and parking lots. Please thank them when you see them after school opens again!

Under the direction of Josh LaMar, the 8th Grade Jazz Band from Terry W. Kitchen Central Junior High recently performed a 40-minute set for the residents of Chateau Girardeau. These talented musicians have been preparing for two months. We proudly have three jazz bands at Cape Girardeau Public Schools, two at the high school and one at the junior high.

I had some wonderful company today! As part of the Cape Public Schools Foundation, I headed out to support another great local charity, and a friend volunteered to join me as we rang the bell for the Cape Salvation Army.
Small acts make a big difference. 🧡🖤🐅

Today was a special day for one of our 8th-grade musician! Thanks to an anonymous donor, Dominick Wilson received a brand-new Baritone Saxophone that he’ll play through high school. 🎷
We’re incredibly grateful for donors who believe in our students and support their passions.
