🎃👻 Halloween Safety Reminder! 🚸 ‼️CGPS families…this is important! As we gear up for a spooktacular Halloween, let's prioritize safety for our little goblins and witches during trick or treating! 🕸️🍬 🔦 Light It Up: Make sure your kids have flashlights, glow sticks, or reflective gear to stay visible in the dark. 🧙‍♂️ Costume Check: Ensure costumes are flame-resistant and fit comfortably. Masks should allow clear vision. 🍭 Inspect Candy: Before indulging, inspect your child's treats and discard anything unwrapped or suspicious. 🏠 Stick Together: Trick or treat in groups, and set a curfew for older kids to check in. 🚙 Road Rules: Use crosswalks, look both ways, and stay on the sidewalk. Drivers, please be extra cautious. 🏡 Trusted Stops: Only visit well-lit houses, and know your neighbors. Let's make Halloween magical AND safe for all our little pumpkins! 🎃👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Share this post and spread the word! ⬇️More info in the infographic from Drop It and Drive! 👀 #WeareCT #SafeHalloween #FamilyFirst 🌟

🦃🌿 We had a fantastic lesson this week at the Early Childhood Center with a special presentation called "Talkin' Turkey" by the Missouri Conservation Department! 🌟 Our little ones, along with Dr. Benyon, had a blast learning all about turkeys. They even got to touch real turkey feathers and were captivated by an engaging turkey-themed storytime. 📚💬 Learning about nature and wildlife is not only educational but also incredibly fun, and we're grateful to the Missouri Conservation Department for this exciting experience! 🍂🦉 Every student, every day! #WeareCT #EarlyChildhoodCenter #TalkinTurkey #NatureEducation #LearningIsFun #MissouriConservationDepartment

The October Board meeting was held Monday at the Central Administrative Office (CAO) located at 301 N. Clark. We were honored to have the opportunity to recognize our Terrific Tigers from each school. These students are exemplifying excellence and good character on a regular basis. Congratulations, Tigers! Keep shining! The Cape Central Academy Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program was also featured during the meeting with Central Academy Zech Payne and JAG Coordinator Ursulla Wadley making comments. CA student Taylor Banks read her award-winning essay as she shared obstacles she has had to overcome throughout her life, and goals she hopes to achieve through the support of JAG. Her determination is inspiring! Taylor, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what’s ahead in your future! All of our schools across the District participated in the Great ShakeOut a day early since we are off for Parent/Teacher Conferences on 10/19, which is the regularly-scheduled day for the international earthquake drill. Our friends at Clippard Elementary showed us how well they were prepared today. Please take a moment to make sure your family is prepared for emergencies at home by viewing the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety below. https://www.earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/

We have a quick update for you on the fiber outage. Spectrum has now restored service to all sites. Phone lines should be working at all of our schools, as well as all other internet services. Thank you again for your patience. Have a great weekend!

Dear Tiger Families, Due to a Spectrum fiber outage, many of our schools are currently experiencing disruption of service to phones, internet, email, and Wi-Fi. Spectrum does not have an estimated time of repair at this time. If you need help, you can call the Central Administrative Office at 335-1867. Please note: Phones ARE working at Cape Central Middle School, Terry W. Kitchen Central Junior High, and Cape Central Academy. Please join our board and other district leaders to learn more about current and future opportunities for our students. We will start the evening with tours of the CTC and light refreshments along with meet and greet time. Then, we will move into a presentation and discussion as we welcome comments from the public. We have so much to offer and would like to gain input on future plans for our CTC and other career pathways being offered through CGPS.

Never forget. Across our school district on 9/11, our staff members are making sure students are educated about the events that happened in 2001. Mrs. Young's 4th grade class at Alma Schrader learned from their classmate, Serenity Johnson, who visited the 9/11 Memorial with her family. Mrs. Young teaches a special lesson focused on the September 11th attacks each year. Students from Cape Central High's Air Force JROTC and Student Senate hosted a special breakfast for local first responders to thank them for keeping our community safe. Through the lessons taught in class and the acts of service and thanks, our Tiger Family is making sure that we never forget.

ROAD CLOSURE FROM THE CITY: There will be a street closure on Clark Street between Whitener and Themis starting Monday, September 11. Terry W. Kitchen Central Junior High and ECC families will still be able to drive down Whitener. Our faculty and staff will still be able to access the parking lot between the pool and the track. The only street this will impact is Clark, and it's a very small portion of the road. Hopefully, the closure will be wrapped up before the end of next week.

Ms. Stacey Chicora, a Science teacher at Cape Central High, took a group of nine CHS students to Belize in July on a STEM tour. The group worked for two years, raising money to make the trip possible. They learned so many new things on this trip and had a lasting impact on the environment. The students planted trees in a rainforest previously destroyed by a hurricane, participated in a watershed assessment, and helped with a nurdle beach cleanup. They were also able to zipline through the rainforest, snorkel along the second-largest barrier reef in the world, and take drumming lessons.
