Cape Girardeau Public Schools retiring superintendent Dr. Neil Glass got a big surprise today from the new Fire Science program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center (CTC). The instructor, Jeremy Freeman, and students from the class loaded up a fire truck and presented Dr. Glass with his own firefighter helmet. The helmet was decorated with a combination of donated personalized stickers and tins for the front of the helmet that were created by the Graphic Design class at the CTC.
Dr. Glass, who does have his CDL, got to drive the truck to Franklin Elementary to visit students. He and CTC Director Brock Crowley talked to the students about all of the possibilities for learning at the CTC! Needless to say, the firetruck and students dressed in firefighter attire were a big hit!

"Mr. Cook, can I have more salad?!"
That's what could be heard in Mr. Brian Cook's 2nd-grade class Friday at Jefferson Elementary, as students enjoyed a special treat. The class made salads with fresh lettuce grown in their tower garden. Mr. Cook brought his family's special silverware and had a table set in front of the classroom so the students could enjoy a family-style meal. Mr. Cook said he was happy to see how excited his students were to enjoy fresh foods.
What a great end to the week!
